Methuen Community Studios announced that two Methuen students have been awarded scholarships through the Dave Skelly Memorial Scholarship Fund at their Music Bingo Fundraiser in May.

Klea Pocoli, who graduated from Methuen High School, has tutored disadvantaged students at no cost from all Methuen grammar schools and donated science books to them. An AP Language student, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and School Council Committee while pursuing her musical interests in MHS Marching Band, Stage Door 22 and D.H.I. drum group. It was her idea for MHS to restart the student literary magazine because she felt it is important to leave something behind that encourages creativity in the students who come after her. Klea Pocoli is majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and English at Merrimack College.

James Sugden has also given back by volunteering with Special Education students through a Unified Track team and Field Day opportunities. He is also a member of MHS band, Stage Door 22 and the Broadcast and Live Video Production group. Sugden has volunteered to cover Methuen High school events and worked on the 2023 Scholarship Telethon. He also hosted and produced a comical holiday edition of “Methuen Minutes” in 2022. James Sugden plans to major in Communications with a special concentration in the Film and Video Arts at Bridgewater State University.
