MCTV staff and Board of Directors are concerned about the action taken by the Federal Communications Commission in a 3-2 vote along party lines regarding Notice of Proposed Rule Making (FNPRM) on Cable Franchising 05-311.

They have taken the first step to establish new rules for Cable TV licenses that each company has with our city. Under these new rules, items that were provided “in kind” can now be deducted from funding provided under the license. This funding currently supports MCTV bringing you our local news program, “Methuen Now”, high school sports, local artists and musicians like Happy Hearts, City Council meetings, events like July 3 at the Loop, and more!

We are encouraging our viewers and producers to contact their Congressional delegation to express discontent with FCC Proceeding 05-311.
